When did your child start talking using real words?

My daughter said about 8 or 9 words by her first birthday. By 13 months, she had 25 words, and by 15 months she had over 200. She's now 18 months old and talking in sentences. It's actually a bit crazy! My pediatrician told me they look for 1-2 words by age 1 and about 50 words by age 2. But there is a huge range of normal, and every child develops at their own rate. My cousin's son didn't say any words by age 2, and now a few months later he's got at least 25 or so. It's like once they really get going, it picks up quickly.
