What are the prospects for lawyers in CA?

If someone went through law school. An accredited school but only for CA not like an ABA school where you can be across the US. Then received a Juris Doctorate. Then ped the CA bar. What prospects would that lawyer have? Are there a lot of firms? Are there a lot of people that need lawyers? Or are there too many lawyers ect? How much would one make ect? Or could one freelance and find there own customers or start there own firm, an advantageous idea?
