Sump pump hose clogged with ice?

Every fall I remove the standard flexible sump hose from the side of my house and replace it with a 15' long abs pipe with a 90 elbow and it works like a charm. The long strait run allows the pump to completely drain every time the pump cycles. its -40 for the better part of 4 months here.
