Leaking GE fridge????????????????????????…

I have an older model GE fridge and it has been leaking for the past month or so.....it leaks from the freezer which is on top (it is separate from the fridge and has its own door) into the fridge through the little part that sticks into the middle of the inside of the fridge....i have tried defrosting the freezer but that only works for a short time and then it starts to leak again......i have been on the web looking for answers but have found a lot of confusing info....can anyone tell me something that will help....cause i really cant afford a new fridge and would like to fix this one....thanks so much
