If America was defeated in war (rest in description)?

Okay, so let's say America was defeated in a war. But the leader of the country that defeated them only wishes to change the name of the country. The President and the US government will stay the same but the ruler of the country who took them over will have absolute control of America but the ruler won't actually do much at all other than the name change and then allow the President to do as he likes. Do you think for the most part, America would subdue to these terms, knowing that they cannot win a rebellion or war or coup?
