I'm 19 should i go for a smear test?

My mother had my brother (first child) when she was about 22 i think and while after she gave birth to him she had a smear test and they found cancerous cells which they got rid of and also found them a few years after again and got rid of them i'm only 19 but since the whole jade goody thing has came about im petrified of getting cancer any advice?
