Good or bad band formation?

well im in a band and im playing the rhythm and lead guitar parts and am also the lead vocalists. what we decided to do was this, during the intro/verses/choruses/bridge i would play the rhythm part so it is easuier for me to sing and my friend who is entirally on lead guitar would play the same thing as me and get mini solos. then once we get into the actual solo section we will trade off solos while the other person does the rhythm and then we will finish the song with another chourus or just end it with guitar. what dou guys think of this idea good?bad?is it even possible? and we wont do it for every single song some songs will be just rhythm no solos and others will be just solos no singing but ya u get the point
