Can I get a replacement phone for free?

My phone, the LG VX8350R from verizon Wireless broke recently. I've had it since August. The port where you plug in the charger is broken. When I try to plug in my charger, it 'sizzles' and when I try to plug in my phone to my sister's charger, who has the same phone, the plug doesn't fit! If I went to Verizon Wireless and told them my phone was broken, could I get a free phone? Thanks in advance.
