Why won't my pics upload to the computer?

I have a pink polaroid camera, and when I try to connect w/my usb cable it won't let me. ...ever since my husband tried to do something with an mp3 player on the computer. Is there another way for me to get the pics on the computer?? or should i just take my sim card to the picture kiosk thing and have them put on a cd?? thanks
