Vegetarian beef jerky?

In some Asian markets, particularly Chinese markets, you can find vegetarian "jerky" made from mushrooms. These products are usually produced in Taiwan, which is a major producer of Chinese vegetarian processed foods -- if you get lucky, in the market you go to, you may well find vegetarian substitutes for exciting things like duck and shrimp, as well.
