Is Two and a Half Men just made to flatter Charlie Sheen?

Don't get me wrong, I love the show. It's the funniest sit-com since Friends. But Charlie Sheen just doesn't seem like a ladies' man, or at least not in the show. It just seems like if the character actually tried to pick up women in a public place, he'd be seen as the old creepy guy.
