Is it normal for my betta...?

to always be hungrey? Everytime I go into my room he hurries to the top of the tank. I feel him 3 times a day at 3 pellets a feeding. At the times the he goes to the top a few times I've put in one pellet to see if hes hungrey and he gobbles it down like hes starving.. is this normal? Am I not feeding him enough?
