I hear this guy is a creep?

There's this guy who really likes me, and I kinda liked him too. But he started calling me "y" and "smokin hot" and he wasn't the sweet guy I thought he was. A guy I know has heard from other girls that he is a creep? What exactly do you think they mean by "creep"? Should I still give him a chance? I'm not sure if he actually cares about me or he just thinks I'm hot..
