I have some firearm questions? (militia)?

If someone wanted to join a State Militia, how do they get the AR-15 and AK-47? I mean, what is required for one to get one of those two guns and what is the legal process they need to go through? I saw some stuff on the news on the militia recently and I'd thought it would be cool to own a firearm like that just for target practice (or if someday I wanted to join a state militia).
