How is it living in Palmdale/ Lancaster?

Is the place progressive? Are there a lot of commercial businesses there? Is it a good place to live in? What are mostly the population there? Are there more whites than other races or just the same as in LA? Are there a lot of restaurants and stores there? Is it a better and quieter place to live than LA?
