How do i make my eee pc recognize the cd drive when playing games?

I got a EZ-DUB cd-dvd reader (external) and it reads discs but when i go to play my game on my eee pc from a disc it says disc not found. does anyone know how to make this problem stop? how can my eee pc recognize this? i have starcraft brood war, warcraft 2, warcraft 3 frozen throne, fallout2, and age of empires 2 age of kings. all are installed but when i run them they say no disc found... please help with a walk through!
