Guatemalan corn tamales?

My boyfriend always tells me stories about how his mom used to make tamales everyday in Guatemala.. they were corn tamales with no meat or other such items (basically they were just plain corn tamales). I can't find a recipe for it, but I'd like to make some for his birthday. They are wrapped in banana leaves.
