Does dating an older girl work in college?

The status quo is that girls date older guys, but i have a crush on this girl from school. I am about to turn 20 and am in my second year. She is going to turn 22 soon and is in her final year of school, so we are in completely different places in our lives. I want to ask her out, is there any chance of me pulling this off? Not just getting her attraction, but keeping it.
