Do you think it's stupid that Catholics give up stuff for Lent?

No it isn't stupid. The season of Lent is a time for self-examination and seaking ways to improve our relationship with God and the ones we love. Catholics aren't the only ones who observe the season of Lent. Anglicans/Episcopalians,Lutherans,and the Orthodox Christians observe lent as well.
