Do Cyrtocara Moorii (Blue Malawi Dolphin) cichlids lose their black spots?

yes they can in the 10 years i ran a pet-shop i noticed alot of cichlids lose they're stripes, spots or color, if they are maturing they will lose they're stripes or spots, if they darken or lighten up they may be stressed out, check your ph levels makes sure its high enough, they are still small so its hard to say, make sure also no others are chasing him/her and that it has a rock to hide under.... hope i helped
