Can you co-sign a lease on an apartment if you live in another province?

I just moved to Ontario and want an apartment but don't know anymoe out here. I have someone willing in Manitoba to co-sign for an apartment, but I'm not sure if that is allowed. Are you allowed to co-sign on an apartment from a different province than the oneyou live in?
