Are one's own thoughts trustworthy?

i think thoughts are untrustworthy just because we don't know everything and sometimes thoughts lead you in to bad situations...in no way am i saying you shouldn't have thoughts I'm just saying that as a religious individual the devil whispers into your ear to get you to do bad deeds which makes you doubt whether your thoughts are yours or the devils words.
