Am I entitled to the reward?

So this Joe had his heartbroken by Emily and needs closure but Emily moved so he has no way of contacting her. He advertises in the New York times that he will pay 5k to anyone giving him info on Emily's whereabouts. I saw this ad in a Tokyo newspaper in Japanese and send him info. Is this a legally binding contract or did I waste 5 minutes of my life?
