1986 305 iroc engine for my 80 el camino:questions!?

tell me the good,bad and ugly about the engine.when i let the oil out of the pan about 2quarts of waTER CAME OUT FIRST. the guy told me it was not covered but it does look good. i think i will just break it down clean it up and change the gaskets and take it from there.
